WebJun 20, 2012 · If your going to swap out pitman arms, you more than likely will have to cut the original one off. If you are replacing steering boxes and plan on using your current pitman arm, heat it up first. Those things are a PITA to get off if they haven't been off before. Mine came off without issue using the puller I linked above.

On two occasions I have even had to use a pneumatic angle grinder with a cut-off wheel to relieve (small cut inline with the shaft about 3/16 deep) the arm.
